Cleo’s — Irish knitwear, art, ceramics and places to stay in Kenmare

A shop for things worth keeping.

Irish and natural-fibre knitwear, art and ceramics by makers we admire, and a small collection of places to stay — chosen by Helen in Kenmare.

Kenmare, County Kerry

Things made with care, chosen with intent.

Cleo’s is a third-generation independent shop and gallery on Shelbourne Street in Kenmare. Helen brings together natural-fibre knitwear, original art and handmade ceramics from makers she trusts, alongside a small selection of places to stay in Ireland and Spain. The collection is deliberately edited rather than endless: fewer things, better chosen.

01 / WEAR

Knitwear

Designer knitwear and clothing in wool and other natural fibres, alongside a small number of hand-knit pieces. Helen selects each for the quality of the fibre, the workmanship and how well it wears. Where possible, she favours pure natural fibres that can break down naturally at the end of their useful life.

03 / STAY

Stay

Cleo’s offers a small selection of homes and apartments for short stays in Kenmare town, by the water and in a small village in Spain. Helen can advise on availability, rates and which property is likely to suit your visit.

The person behind the selection

Helen Joyce

Cleo’s is shaped by Helen’s eye for things that are well made, useful and individual. She looks closely at the fibre, the workmanship and the person behind a piece before deciding whether it belongs in the shop.

That means the collection stays personal. A hand-knit sweater, a painting, a ceramic bowl or a place to stay is here because Helen thinks it is worth knowing about, not because there is a long catalogue to fill.

Visitors are welcome to ask questions. Helen can talk through the makers, the materials, the fit, the provenance and the practical details of staying in the area.
